Mackenzie's Anecdotes presents short sketches of the experiences a pair of multi-lingual kids have had growing up between two languages and cultures. The author has collected stories since Mackenzie's first words until the age of four, at which time she is now fluent in both English and Thai. Her translation of discussions with her mom in Thai to literal English have been sometimes incomprehensible and often hilarious. This book is presented in both English and Thai on facing pages. Thai readers might enjoy comparing the language and Mackenzie's intent in the two languages, while English readers can enjoy the English anecdotes on their own. All the illustrations in the book were created from original photography by the author. These family photographs were altered to reduce the detail of images while retaining the poignancy of the moments captured. This edition of Mackenzie's Anecdotes is publish in "full-color" format, which drives the publishing price up by approximately $10. Since most of the images are rendered in black line-drawing style, we are releasing an Edition II at a reduced price, in which the interior will be in all B/W. Check for this title.

What a delightful recording of sweet and innocent anecdotes!
There are so many times I can’t help but laugh out loud on
Little Kenzie’s enormous effort to get a grip on both Thai and English languages.
The little misunderstandings on languages are very funny and at the same time very heartwarming.
This book shows how hard her mother has to work to instill knowledge of Thai culture into her daughter in a foreign country without alienating her from her father’s Canadian culture and English language.
Kenzie’s loving and caring mother is able to blend and combine both cultures and languages and teach her children to be multi-cultured citizens quite seamlessly.
Kenzie’s mother closely records her young daughter’s innocence while raising both children and taking care of the household.
And finally she shares!
There are a lot of funny episodes as well as sweet and cute ones on top of Kenzie's original artwork.

แต่เล่มนี้ไม่ใช่หนังสือเด็กธรรมดาๆนะคะ เป็นบันทึกของคุณแม่พลัดถิ่น ที่จดพัฒนาการของลูกสาวเอาไว้อย่างละเอียดละออ
ความสนุกสนานและตลกขบขันอยู่ตรงที่ความซื่อบริสุทธิ์ของหนูน้อยแม็คเคนซี ที่ไม่รู้อิโหน่อิเหน่อะไร ไม่รู้ความแตกต่างว่าเด็กส่วนใหญ่อาจจะพูดแค่ภาษาเดียว
เคนซีพูดได้ทั้งไทยและอังกฤษ เพราะนี่คือชีวิตปกติธรรมดาของเคนซี มีคุณแม่เป็นผู้อบรมสั่งสอน ให้รู้ทั้งภาษาและขนบธรรมเนียมวัฒนธรรมไทย ในขณะที่อยู่ในสิ่งแวดล้อมที่มีแต่คนพูดภาษาอังกฤษ นับว่าไม่ใช่เรื่องง่ายเลย แต่ด้วยความตั้งใจมั่น คุณแม่คนนี้ก็ทำได้แล้ว

แต่วันนี้ไม่ได้มาคุยเรื่องเพลงค่ะ อยากจะแนะนำหนังสือเล่มนี้ให้เพื่อนๆได้รู้จัก
คุณแม่ได้บันทึกการใช้ภาษาไทยและภาษาอังกฤษของเคนซี ที่ไพเราะ และถูกต้องตามกฎไวยากรณ์ โดยไม่มีการบ่นว่า ไม่รู้จะทำอย่างไร ลูกไม่ยอมพูดภาษาไทย เพราะเคนซีพูดภาษาไทยได้ชัดเจน ถูกต้อง แม้มีพลั้งพลาดบ้าง ทั้งภาษาไทยและภาษาอังกฤษ นั่นก็เพราะเธอยังเด็กและกำลังเรียนรู้ทุกสิ่งทุกอย่าง ไม่ว่าจะเป็นภาษาทั้งสองภาษา ขนบธรรมเนียมวัฒนธรรมทั้งสองชาติ หรือการใช้ชีวิตโดยทั่วไปตามประสาเด็กอย่างมีคุณภาพ โดยไม่ได้จำกัดว่าต้องทำแบบไทยหรือฝรั่ง
การจะประสบความสำเร็จถึงขั้นนี้ได้ ต้องอาศัยความรู้ความสามารถของคุณพ่อคุณแม่ และการสามารถนำความรู้ของตัวเองมาใช้เพื่อพัฒนาลูกได้ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่ง คุณแม่ต้องมีความมานะอดทนเป็นอย่างมาก เพราะเด็กคือมนุษย์ ที่ไม่ได้อยู่นิ่งให้เราปั้นแต่งให้ได้ตามใจชอบ
หนังสือเล่มนี้ เป็นเพียงเศษเสี้ยวน้อยนิดในชีวิตของเคนซีน้อยที่น่ารัก แต่ก็เป็นเศษเสี้ยวที่น่าสนใจและน่าติดตามมากค่ะ
